Reflexology

WHAT IS IT
Reflexology is the physical act of applying pressure to the feet or hands with specific
thumb, finger and hand techniques, and is often referred to as foot (or hand) massage. It is based on a system of zones and reflex areas that reflect an image of the body on the feet and hands, essentially representing a picture of the body, and work on the zones and reflex areas effects a physical change to the body.
The aim of the Reflexologist is to treat the whole person (body, mind, and spirit) to induce a state of balance and harmony stimulating the body’s own potential to heal both physically and emotionally.

HOW DOES IT WORK
Specific areas on the feet represent corresponding areas in the body, linked by energy pathways. When pressure is applied it stimulates the movement of energy along these pathways. Stimulation or relaxation of those foot points creates a similar effect on the body areas.
The zones of the right foot represent areas on the right side of the body, and the zones of the left foot the left. Because the feet and hands help set the tension level for the rest of the body they are an easy way to interrupt the stress signal and reset homeostasis, the body's equilibrium.
